Article : Selecting the Right Wedding Invitations
A wedding is a joyous event for all involved, the union between two people in love. The average wedding involves a great deal of planning. The date must be set, the venue chosen, the decorations and colors selected, the menu planned, etc. The bride must choose a gown, the couple must select a menu, wedding cake and photographer. Then of course there are the wedding invitations. The invitations are an extremely important aspect because they tell invited guests when and where the ceremony and reception are taking place, the dress code (if any) for the wedding and any other pertinent information.
There are giant wedding catalogs from which you can select all kinds of related items like wedding favors, cake toppers, place holders and of course, invitations. Before choosing your invitation you should already have your wedding colors chosen and your theme if in fact you decide to have a theme wedding. The invitations should coordinate in some way. For example, if you are having a fairy tale theme wedding, a majestic castle on the front of the invitation is one idea to consider. For a winter holiday wedding you might want snow white invitations adorned with illustrations of mistletoe and holly berries.
The most classic of all invitations is the simple off-white or cream colored engraved invitation. The engraving can be done in silver, gold, black or any other color of your choice -- just make sure you choose a color dark enough to read against the background. Stationery and wedding supply companies can customize the text to say anything you choose and also may have several different font styles to select from. Some couples are going the non-traditional route and making their own wedding invitations, either using computer software or sometimes by hand.
Wording a wedding invitation can be tricky. If you want to go traditional, the inside of the card might read something like this: 'Mr. and Mrs. Edward Smith request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter, Jane Smith to John Doe.' There is another way to do it as well, where both sets of parents are named followed by something like, 'request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their children, Jane Smith and John Doe.' This information is followed by the date, time and location. RSVP information should also be listed and if there is a dress code include it as well. Also specify if a guest may attend with invitees who are single.
Wedding invitations should be sent out at least six weeks before the ceremony, with the RSVP deadline around three weeks before the ceremony. You should already have a rough estimate of how many people will be attending, but once you receive the RSVPs you can finalize planning both the wedding and reception. Many people send response cards which serve as RSVPs and congratulatory messages, this is a traditional way to respond to an invitation and most people who RSVP will do this.

We'll walk you through this step by step to create your own personalized wedding invitation.
Just launch the software, and browse through one of the included bridal shower/wedding samples. Please feel free to browse other categories also, sometimes you may have a preference for templates in other categories for your particular occasion. Wedding themed
projects usually begins with "wedding" or "bridal". You can also start from scratch if you prefer, but its highly
recommended to start with one of the sample wedding/bridal shower projects. If you like to include your own picture or
clipart, you will be able to do so in "Step three", otherwise just move on to the next step by Clicking NEXT. If you chose an existing sample
software automatically moevs you to the next screen "Choose Theme". To keep the download size down, the samples, are simply made of "wedding verses", in "Select Theme screen", you can step through available themes or backgrounds
by clicking on each of the available designs in a category. For bridal shower/wedding invitation templates, you can simply select the wedding category in the drop down menu. If you have your own background you prefer to use, or you want to design your own, either choose "Blank" template in available designs or Click "Choose My own Backround"
checkbox. This will launch a dialog that allows you to browse for images, or cliparts. (.jpg and .bmp file formats are currently
supported). Also in this menu, you can choose "To Tile the design" or "Make design Landscape" your choice.
The default size of the templates will print Two per page on a 81/2 X 11 paper. If you want a different size printed say
4 or more per page simply modify the width and height of the template as provided in width and height fields. The invitation will
change dynamically as you edit this boxes. Some may prefer to print Thank you notes for example four per page, so we believe you will find this feature useful.
In the Detail section, you can add information specific to the wedding or bridal shower -- just personalize
your wedding invitation however you want here. Some verses have also been added to help you in composing your personalized and printable invitation. See the Verse Library.
Next thing to do is review your invitation. Here you can customize the font, move text and image elements
around to enhance your design better and give your custom wedding invitation the personality it deserves.
Next step is print/send/Save. You can save the design as an image (..jpg), this is useful if for example you want to email it to someone to look at before you actually print. Click Print preview, to see how the invitation will turn out before you print. Please note that the software will try to figure out how many invitations will fit on a regular 81/2 x 11 paper. From the default settings, you will be able to print two per page. If you want more go back to step two to adjust the
template size. So at this time, Invitation Maker 2.0 will print as many invitions as makes sense per page. For custom sized invitations, you may need to tweak the print settings (margins etc) to get desired result. You can also send your invitations via email to friends.
